More Information

  • All children will be in grade classes with Catechists.
  • All parents will be in Parent small groups.
  • Parents who have children in Quest and SPY can choose which group they want to be part of.
  •  We will meet in person on both Nights (parents and children).
  • We found that meeting one night a month was not enough to build community and grow in our faith, especially if you had to miss a month because of illness or life circumstances. Also many parents felt overwhelmed having to do 2-3 lessons at home.
  • There will be NO dropping off kids again this year.
  •  Parents are our primary focus, as they help guide the faith lived at home, which is what God intended for all of us.

SACRAMENT PREPARATION

  • 1st and 2nd graders are enrolled in Sacrament Preparation - which is a two year process. They will receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation in Fall of their 2nd year and Sacrament of Eucharist in Spring of 2nd year.

CATECHISTS / PARENT MENTORS

  • We will have training for all Catechists.
  • Please be prepared to commit to at least one training this summer.
  • I want to make sure everyone feels comfortable using the Bible and sharing God’s love letter with others. We will also cover Lectio Divina sharing our Story of God, our witness of God in our lives.

Our Vision

  • “Israel, remember this! The Lord -and the Lord alone- is our God. Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength. Never forget these commands I give to you today. Teach them to your children. Repeat them when you are at home and when you are away, when you are resting and when you are working. Tie them on your arms and wear them on your foreheads as a reminder. Write them on the doorposts of your houses and on your gates.” (Deuteronomy 6:4-9)

This is our main goal as Missionaries of the Gospel. We, as adults, can surely learn from our children, but it is our God-given duty to teach them about God and his commands. How can we teach them if we don’t know our faith? That is what most parents say to me: I cannot teach my children, because I don’t know my faith well. Here is our opportunity! As parents - Do we know everything about our faith – heavens, NO! However, we need to keep learning. As Catechists, called by God to make Him known to others. We need to keep learning, too! This year we will have one living, practical faith lesson to do at home incorporating life and prayer. We will go over suggestions and ideas at our training this summer.

It’s going to be a fun, faith-filled year! Come, Holy Spirit!
