DCYC is fast approaching. What is DCYC? It is the Diocesan Catholic Youth Conference for central Texas. It is held each year at the end of January at the Waco Convention Center. Well over 2000 teens, along with adult chaperons, gather for Praise and Worship music; there is also several keynote speakers, Mass, Reconciliation, Eucharistic Adoration and workshops on a variety of topics. It can be a life changing experience for those that attend. I know it was for me after my first DCYC.
While DCYC will take place between Jan 29th and 31st, SPY will only be attending Saturday the 30th. We will leave very early Saturday morning and return very late Saturday night. The cost is $20 per teen. Sign-up begins now and continues through Jan 10. That is the very last day we can accept registrations. As always with any SPY event, if the cost of registration is preventing your son or daughter from attending, please let us know. I know we can work out something. We really, really want your teen to go. And we ve scholarships available, along with some generous parishioners.
In addition to the registration fee we must have a signed parental consent form. This is one especially for DCYC, required by the Diocese. We sent one home with the teens. But, you can find the form (in English or Spanish) on the parish web site - http://stpatrickhutto.org/high-school-spy.
Finally... If you are not receiving text messages or email messages from SPY via the Remind system, I ask/beg you, to sign up. It is the best way for SPY to communicate with you about what is happening, especially concerning DCYC. You can receive text messages to your phone; or if you prefer you can receive email messages instead.
It is very simple to sign up. To receive text messages send the text @spypa to the number 81010. You?ll receive a message for confirmation. To use the computer to sign up go to the web page at http://remind.com/join. It will ask you to enter a code. Use ?@spypa?. It will send you an email for confirmation. It would be a huge help if everyone was signed up to receive messages.
