Hungry?
Question: how did Jesus approach ministry? What was his modus operandi?
Answer: Jesus himself said, ‘The Son of Man came eating and drinking.’ {Luke 7:34} The more you read the gospels, the more you’ll discover that Jesus conducted a lot of ministry around the table. In fact, New Testament Scholar Robert Karris says: ‘In Luke’s Gospel Jesus is either going to a meal, at a meal, or coming from a meal.’ Jesus ate with tax collectors and sinners. He called Himself ‘The Bread of life’ and we continually find him inviting ‘the poor, the crippled, the blind and the lame to join Him at His great banqueting table.
What Happens When We Share A Meal?
Meals are a powerful form of expression of love and friendship in every culture. As we share food we become friends. Around the table, walls come down and friendships are born.
Share A Meal With Us
This understanding of the importance and significance of sharing meals has led us to this monthly potluck at the church. Immediately following the 10 am Mass on the fourth Sunday of the month, you are invited to join us for laughter, good food and great times. Bring a dish to share if you’d like. Our hope is that God would use this time to strengthen old friendships and forge new ones. Hope to see you there!
