Our service project called Chain Saw Manicure is this Saturday, Oct 22. We will meet at the St. Patrick parking lot at 7:00am. We will leave the parking lot by 7:30 so we can get to Down Home Ranch before the activities begin at 8:00am. If you're not there by 7:30am, you'll have to get to Down Home Ranch yourself, sorry. After the work, Down Home Ranch will provide a Bar-B-Que lunch. After we finish lunch we will head back to St. Patrick. I expect to be at the church sometime between 1:00pm and 2:00pm.
There are some rules that Down Home Ranch enforces. First. everyone must wear long pants and closed toed shoes. No shorts. No sandals. If you wear those you won't be allowed to go to Down Home Ranch. It is suggested you wear long sleeve shirt, but that's up to you. If you have work gloves, you should bring them. SPY has some, but not enough for everyone.
The extended forecast calls for a chance of rain. The work will go on, rain or shine. If it rains, be prepared to get wet! So you should wear shoes and clothes that could get very muddy and dirty. It's OK to bring a change of socks and shoes if you don't like wet feet for the drive home.
There are two forms that we
must have before we leave Saturday. We must have the St. Patrick parental consent and medical release form. Some have already turn it in. You can fill one out and have a parent sign it on Saturday morning. One has been sent home at least once so far, but you can also find one here on the web site -
/documents/2017/9/Medical%20Release%20form%20SPY%20-%202017.pdf. Down Home Ranch sent a release form that they require. So we'll need parents to sign that when they drop their teen off on Saturday morning.
Part of the reason for meeting at 7:00am is to be sure we have all the forms and they're signed by the parents. We will have a light breakfast like doughnuts for the teens. But, if possible, they should eat a good breakfast before getting to the church.
